Jenson Brooksby is ranked 46th on the ATP Tour and is seeded 8th here at the Korea Open. He will be facing the dangerous Soon-woo Kwon, an extremely dangerous floater in the draw, especially in his home country. Brooksby has quickly built a reputation as one of the best young talents on the tour, and while he has not had the best year so far there is no denying his quality. His year has been quite inconsistent as he battled injuries, but solid showings at the US Open and San Diego Open tell us that he’s slowly regaining his form. He is the favorite here against Kwon but needs to be well aware of his opponent’s talent, especially in front of his home crowd.

Soon-woo Kwon is unseeded here at his home tournament the Korea Open in Seoul, but many will be backing him to do well here. He is an extremely talented player that has shown just how good he can be on many occasions, but has struggled to produce consistent results. Despite all of his promise, he has not won two consecutive main draw matches for the entire year, and his confidence is very likely shot. Hopefully the Korean crowd can get behind him and inspire him to do well, but his opponent Jenson Brooksby is as solid as they come. There is a small window for him here as Brooksby hasn’t had a fantastic year either, but he is the big underdog here.

I am expecting a win here for Jenson Brooksby, and while I like the outright odds I am tempted to back a straight sets victory. Soon-woo Kwon can match the American for talent, but has struggled mightily this season and there is no indication that change is on the horizon. The only real thing going for him is that he is playing at home, but I expecting Brooksby to be much too solid for the Korean. Back the outright win with extreme confidence.
