Spain and Germany face off on Sunday in a World Cup Group E soccer showdown at Al Bayt Stadium.

Spain currently sits in 1st place in the group having picked up three points. Spain opened up their World Cup with one of their most impressive victories in the World Cup. The offense put up seven goals against Costa Rica, and the defense gave up zero goals. Spain had eight shots on target, and 82 percent of the possession. Ferran Torres scored in the 31st and 54th minute on the way to the victory. Spain was so impressive in the first game that they might make zero changes this game. In this game, though, Spain can’t be so impressive. They need to play strong defense here, or Germany is going to get behind them, and they are going to be defeated here.

On the other side of this matchup is Germany, who sits in 3rd place in the group having picked up zero points. Germany scored the first goal against Japan, and it looked like they would be well on their way to a victory. Late in the game, though, the defense really struggled, and they ended up losing 2-1. Germany had 74 percent of the possession and nine shots on target. Leroy Sané missed the last game because of a knee injury, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to be ready to go here either. Germany lost their first game, but they aren’t expected to make any changes here.

Spain ran up the score in the first game, and they are going to find success again here. Germany’s defense gave up two goals in the first game, and their defense is going to struggle again here. Look for Spain to score two or three goals here, and they will secure the victory here.
