Chile and Argentina face off on Thursday in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying game at Estadio Zorros del Desierto. When these two teams faced off in June of 2021 in the Copa America the two teams played to a 1-1 draw.

Argentina comes into this game sitting in second place in the standings having picked up 29 points. Argentina is one of the best teams in the world, but their offense hasn’t been as dominant the last few games. Two games ago against Uruguay, they only scored one goal and in the last game against Brazil the game ended in a 0-0 draw. Argentina had nine shots and three shots on goal, but they couldn’t find the back of the net to secure the victory. In this game, Argentina needs to find a way to score a couple of goals to come away with the victory.

On the other side of this matchup is Chile who sits in 6th place in the standings having picked up 16 points. The last game for Chile came against El Salvador on December 11th, and Chile was able to win that game 1-0. It really looked like that game was going to be a draw, but Sebastian Vegas scored a goal in the 95th minute to pick up the points. Chile had 62 percent of the possession in that game. Two games ago against Mexico, Chile was able to score two goals and were able to get a point out of that game. In this game, Chile needs the defense to be strong, or it’s going to be a long game.

Argentina is going to find some offensive success against Chile and I don’t see Chile getting on the board. Argentina is going to score at least two goals, and they are going to cruise to the easy victory. Back Argentina -1.5.
