The Seattle Mariners and the Oakland A’s meet in an AL West division matchup in MLB action from RingCentral Coliseum on Tuesday night.
The Seattle Mariners will look to build on their 9-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels from Monday’s series finale. Ty France has 134 hits along with 20 home runs and 77 RBIs while Adam Frazier has 119 hits and 19 doubles. Eugenio Suarez also has 23 doubles with 31 homers of his own and 84 RBIs while J.P. Crawford has 121 hits, 6 homers and 24 doubles as well as a .254 batting average. Julio Rodriguez has also chipped in 23 doubles, 27 home runs and 73 RBIs for Seattle on the year. Luis Castillo will start here and is 7-5 with a 2.68 ERA and 150 strikeouts this season.
The Oakland A’s will try to bounce back after an 11-2 loss to Houston in their series finale last time out. Sheldon Neuse has 58 hits with 26 RBIs and a .216 batting average while Sean Murphy has 124 hits with 33 doubles and 18 home runs with 65 RBIs. Seth Brown’s also got a team-high of 23 home runs and 62 RBIs with 25 doubles as well this season. JP Sears will start here and is 5-2 with a 3.90 ERA and 36 strikeouts this season.
Seattle is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a left-handed starter and 29-12 in their last 41 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Oakland is 6-13 in their last 19 division games and 19-46 in their last 65 home games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 Tuesday games.
I get the case to be made for either side here, but I’m still leaning towards the Mariners. Castillo hasn’t been as sharp as when he was first acquired by the Mariners, but he’s still the better starter in this one. JP Sears has really taken a step back in his last couple of appearances and frankly, the Mariners are the only team who needs a win in this game. I’ll side with the Mariners in this one.
