The Miami Marlins and the New York Mets meet Tuesday in MLB action from Citi Field. Miami is fresh off a series versus the Nationals, winning two of three games. As for the Mets, they played the A’s over the weekend. New York also won two of three in their series. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Miami managed a 5-2 win in the Friday opener versus the Nationals, then kept it going with a 4-1 win on Saturday. The Marlins were denied the sweep however, falling 6-1 in the Sunday finale. Miami was out-hit 13-6 in that defeat.

For the starter job in the Tuesday game, the Marlins will send out Pablo Lopez. In 30 games this year Lopez is 9-10 with a 3.88 ERA. Over 167.0 innings total he has 72 earned on 150 hits and 50 walks with 162 Ks.

Over on the Mets’ side, they took on the A’s over the weekend. New York won 9-2 Friday, then fell in a 10-4 result in the Saturday game two. In the rubber match on Sunday, New York managed to win 13-4 to take the series.

Carlos Carrasco will start for the Mets on Tuesday. Across 27 starts this year Carrasco is 15-6 with a 3.79 ERA. In 145.0 innings total he has 61 earned, 150 hits, 39 walks and 147 Ks.

The Marlins are 16-38 in their last 54 overall and 15-36 in the last 51 Tuesday games. Miami is 23-56 in their last 79 in game one of a series.

Meanwhile, the Mets are 8-2 in their last 10 overall and 5-2 in the last seven after a win. New York is 36-15 in the last 51 in game one of a series.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on the Marlins. Lopez is doing pretty well over his last two starts, with a combined three earned in 13.1 innings on nine hits and one walk. Lopez did have a bad outing the last time he faced the Mets, however (3.2 innings; eight earned). As for Carrasco, he’s got five earned over his last three starts in 16.0 innings so he should do pretty well here also. It’ll be a fun matchup.
