The St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds meet in an NL Central division matchup in MLB action from Great American Ballpark on Wednesday evening.

The St. Louis Cardinals will be looking to rebound after a 5-1 loss to the Reds in Tuesday’s matchup. Entering Tuesday, Nolan Arenado has 27 home runs along with 85 RBIs, 34 doubles, 137 hits and a .306 batting average while Tommy Edman has a .253 batting average and 119 hits with 4 triples, 10 home runs and 44 RBIs. Dylan Carlson has 24 doubles, Paul Goldschmidt has a team-high 154 hits, 34 doubles and a. 338 batting average with 33 home runs and 105 RBIs while Tyler O’Neill has 50 RBIs as well up to this point in the year. Jose Quintana will start here and is 4-6 with a 3.45 ERA and 108 strikeouts this season.

The Cincinnati Reds will try to win another one and push ahead after their triumph over St. Louis on Tuesday. Going into Tuesday’s game, Kyle Farmer leads the Reds with 58 RBIs along with 22 doubles while Tyler Stephenson has 53 hits with 35 RBIs as well so far this season. Jonathan India’s also chipping in a .253 batting average for the Reds as well this season. Mike Minor will start this one for Cincinnati and is 3-10 with a 6.10 ERA and 66 strikeouts this season.

St. Louis is 22-6 in their last 28 games overall and 7-2 in their last 9 road games while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall. Cincinnati is 2-6 in their last 8 games overall and 5-21 in their last 26 Wednesday games while the over is 5-1-1 in their last 6 division games.

I get the reasoning for wanting to back a sizeable home underdog, but a couple of decent starts from Mike Minor isn’t suddenly going to put me on him at home. Minor’s been awful for much of this season and while the Cards took the loss on Tuesday, they usually bounce back fairly well. I’ll back St. Louis in this one.

Chris Ruffolo's Free Pick:
St. Louis -270
