The Cleveland Indians and the Kansas City Royals meet Tuesday in MLB action from Kauffman Stadium. This will be the second installment in a four-game series this week. In the Monday opener, Cleveland took a five-run win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Cleveland played the White Sox over the weekend, winning Thursday and Saturday but dropping the other two games. On Monday versus KC, the Indians put up runs in all but two frames during an 8-3 victory. Starter Cal Quantrill lasted 6.0 innings with three earned on six hits.

For the starter gig in the Tuesday game, the Indians will send out Aaron Civale. This year Civale has 113.0 innings with 101 hits, 52 runs (49 earned), 21 homers allowed, 29 walks, 92 Ks and a 3.90 ERA.

Over on the Royals’ side, they played the Tigers over the weekend. Kansas City managed wins in two of three in that series. On Monday versus Cleveland, the Royals posted a couple of runs in the third to tie the game but couldn’t score from there. Jackson Kowar gave up five earned in 4.1 frames on seven hits and a walk.

For the starting pitcher slot in the Tuesday game the Royals are sending out Brady Singer. This year Singer is 5-10 with a 4.72 ERA and 131 strikeouts.

The Indians are 2-5 in their last seven during game two of a series and 2-8 in their last 10 with a total of 7.0-8.5. The under is also 7-3-1 in Cleveland’s last 11 in game two of a series.

Meanwhile, the Royals are 2-6 in their last eight in game two of a series and 1-4 in their last five Tuesday games. KC is also 2-5 in their last seven at home after a road trip of a week or more.

PICK: I’m going to try the Royals in this one. Civale really needs a good bounce-back start if the Indians are going to be competitive in this one. He’s coming off seven earned on four homers, two walks and seven hits in just 1.2 innings versus the White Sox. Civale has given up five or more earned runs in two of his last three outings. (The one outlier was 6.0 clean innings versus the Yankees.) If Civale can’t produce at least five good innings here Cleveland might be in trouble.
