International Cricket: Bangladesh vs. Zimbabwe 7/20/21 ODI Cricket Prediction

Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe
July 20, 2021 3:30 am EDT

Bangladesh’s tour of Zimbabwe continues tomorrow with the third and final match of the ODI series being played at Harare. The match will start on Tuesday July 20th, 2021 at 3:30am EST.

Zimbabwe were able to do better in the second game than they did in the first but they were still not able to get over the line. Bangladesh won the match despite a few scares to lead the series 2-0. With a series whitewash looming, the home side (Zimbabwe) will look to avoid such a tragedy while Bangladesh is hoping for a strong finish to the series.

Zimbabwe won the toss and batted first, scoring 240 for 9 in their 50 overs. Wessley Madhevere compiled a solid 56 that comprised of five 4s and a solitary 6along with other decent contributions from captain Brendan Taylor (46), Dion Myers (34), Sikandar Raza (30) and Regis Chakabva who is not having a bad tour with the bat. The total seemed to be 20 to 30 runs short of what they would’ve been expecting and it proved costly as they lost the game in the final over to the Bangladeshis. The Zimbabwean bowlers took wickets and key stages of the match having their opponents reeling at 173 for 7 in 38.3 overs with an upset in sight but alas they were unable to finish the amazing the job that they started. Will they be able to finish what they started in tomorrow’s game and avoid the series whitewash or did they over exert themselves in the prior match and did not leave any gas in the tank?

Bangladesh one would say snatched victory from the jaws of defeat after they restricted the opposition to a par score and then made a meal of it in the middle overs. They were fortunate to have the number one all-rounder in their side in Shakib Al Hasan who’s calm and collected unbeaten 96 steered them to an unlikely win. Shakib was aided by Mohammad Saifuddin (28) and Mahmudullah (26) in the back end of the innings to take a little pressure off of him in the run chase. Earlier the Bangladeshi bowlers did extremely well with Shoriful Islam being the most impressive taking 4 wickets in his 10 overs and the superstar that was Shakib took 2 wickets. Bangladesh will be hoping to make tomorrow’s game an easier one for them by being more aggressive and assertive in their attempt on taking all of the spoils in this series but were they shaken just a bit too much by Zimbabwe? Time will indeed tell.

All to play for in the final game of this ODI series and what was just another series for cricket fanatics has quickly turned to a general buzz for us all. Zimbabwe have made great strides in this short series and are adamant on making their presence truly felt tomorrow. However, Bangladesh are called “the Tigers” for a reason, they always fight to the finish and the last game will be no different from where they are standing. I expect a series whitewash, Bangladesh just have that ‘it’ factor that is missing from the Zimbabweans and although it will be a keenly contested battle, the tigers will reign supreme at the end of it all.
