International Cricket: Bangladesh vs. Zimbabwe 7/18/21 ODI Cricket Prediction

Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe
July 18, 2021 3:30 am EDT

Bangladesh’s tour of Zimbabwe continues tomorrow with the second ODI match being played at Harare. The match will start on Sunday July 18th, 2021 at 3:30am EST.

Zimbabwe surrendered the first ODI to Bangladesh by an astonishing 155 runs on Friday, making it the sixth defeat on a trot against the Bangladeshi side. Bangladesh were sound from start to finish with their experience players coming to the fore to secure the win.

Bangladesh were asked to take first knock and compiled 276/9 in their 50 overs. Liton Das continued his superb form with an effortless 102 to lead the charge while Mahmudullah (33), Afif Hossain (45) and Mihedy Hasan Miraz (26) produced worthy knocks to ensure Bangladesh reached an admirable total. Shakib Al Hasan was the pick of the bowlers for the tigers with 5 wickets while Taskin Ahmed, Mohammad Sifuddin and Shoriful Islam all took 1 wicket each in the restriction of the Zimbabweans. As impressive as that victory was, Bangladesh will know that consistency is key in order to unlock the series win tomorrow.

Zimbabwe’s batsmen are the focal point of their demise in the first encounter against the Bangladeshis. A dismal display deprived this side of victory, amassing a paltry 121 chasing 277. Regis Chakabva scored a fighting 54, captain Brendan Taylor notched up 24 and Dion Myers who scored 18 were the only batsmen in double figures. Zimbabwe have to bat better and deeper for them to have a true shot at victory because their bowlers are trying to steer the ship on the other end. Luke Jongue took 3 wickets in the Bangladeshi’s innings with Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani both taking 2 wickets, influential performances yes but they were unable to prevent partnerships from forming thus they faced a challenging total. Does Zimbabwe have the mental capacity to refocus, recharge and move forward or will they once again fall to the tigers?

So far, the Bangladeshis have asserted their superiority leaving Zimbabwe to answer a lot of questions going into the second ODI. For many cricket fans across the globe, this series is pretty much over but Zimbabwe will have otherideas where that is concerned. Bangladesh will win tomorrow’s game comfortable once again and take the unassailable series lead 2-0.
