The Florida Gators and the West Virginia Mountaineers meet in college basketball action from the Chiles Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Florida Gators will look to build on their 81-68 win over Oregon State last time out. Colin Castleton leads the Gators in scoring and rebounding with 20.7 PPG and 8.5 RPG while Will Richard has 14.5 PPG with 5 RPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Florida so far this season. Kyle Lofton also has 9.3 PPG with 4.2 APG to lead the Gators in assists so far this season. As a team, Florida is averaging 80.5 points per game on 46.3% shooting from the field, 36.2% from three point range and 76.2% from the foul line this season.

The West Virginia Mountaineers will try to build on their 89-71 win over Portland State in their last game. Erik Stevenson leads the Mountaineers in scoring with 14 PPG while Tre Mitchell has 11.8 PPG with 4.2 RPG and Joe Toussaint has 11.5 PPG with a team-high 3.3 APG to lead the Mountaineers in assists and to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for WVU up to this point in the year. Jimmy Bell Jr. also leads the Mountaineers in rebounding with 5.2 RPG as well this season. As a team, West Virginia is averaging 80.2 PPG on 50.6% shooting from the field, 35.3% from three and 72.8% from the foul line this season.

Florida is 1-11 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall while the over is 9-1 in their last 10 neutral site games. West Virginia is 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games against a team with a winning record and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS win while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 neutral site games.

I get the case to be made for either side in this game, but I’m leaning towards Florida. I’m still a bit sour on WVU after their performance against Purdue and if West Virginia couldn’t slow down Purdue’s big man in Zach Edey, I don’t know what they’re going to do against a better Florida team with their own big in Colin Castleton who has the added element of being able to shoot from the midrange area as well as bang inside. The Press Virginia defense is alive and well, but I think Florida gets the better of it here. Give me the Gators.
