The Oklahoma Sooners and the Villanova Wildcats meet in college basketball action from the Finneran Pavilion on Saturday afternoon.

The Oklahoma Sooners will look to build on their win streak which sits at six after a 59-55 win over Ole Miss last time out. Grant Sherfield leads the Sooners in scoring and assists with 15.6 PPG along with 5 APG while Tanner Groves has 10.7 PPG and 7.4 RPG to lead the Sooners in rebounding while also being the only other double-digit scorer for Oklahoma up to this point in the year. As a team, Oklahoma is averaging 65.7 points per game on 48.4% shooting from the field, 36.7% from three point range and 70.3% from the foul line this season.

The Villanova Wildcats will try to snap a four-game losing skid after a 74-67 loss to Oregon last time out. Eric Dixon leads Villanova in scoring and rebounding with 17.6 PPG and 6.6 RPG while Caleb Daniels has 17.4 PPG along with 5.4 RPG and a team-high 3.1 APG to lead the Wildcats in assists as well this season. Brandon Slater has 11.7 PPG with 6 RPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Villanova up to this point in the year. As a team, Villanova is averaging 70.4 PPG on 42.4% shooting from the field, 31.4% from three and 81.7% from the foul line this season.

Oklahoma is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall. Villanova is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games while the over is 10-3 in their last 13 games following an ATS loss.

I always stress how important it is not to overreact to a certain result, but I think Villanova could be in some trouble. Life adjusting from Jay Wright hasn’t gone to plan for Kyle Neptune, and the Wildcats have just been struggling to find their footing. Granted, Villanova’s played the tougher schedule of the two featured here, but Oklahoma’s looked pretty good defensively, holding down Ole Miss, Seton Hall and Nebraska and they’ve also yet to allow more than 64 points in a game this season. Although the Wildcats are 2-0 at home, Villanova’s two wins have come against Delaware State and La Salle. Doesn’t inspire a ton of optimism that they can control Oklahoma here. Give me the Sooners.
