The Pitt Panthers and the Vanderbilt Commodores meet in college basketball action from the Memorial Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

The Pitt Panthers will be looking to build on their five-game win streak after a 68-60 win over NC State as 10-point underdogs last time out. Blake Hinson leads Pitt in scoring and rebounding with 16.3 PPG and 6.9 RPG while Jamarius Burton has 15.8 PPG with 4.9 RPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Pitt up to this point in the year. Nelly Cummings also has 8.7 PPG and a team-high 4.2 APG to lead Pitt in assists this season. As a team, Pitt is averaging 72.7 PPG on 43.9% shooting from the field, 32.8% from three and 73.6% from the foul line this season.

The Vanderbilt Commodores will look to build on their 92-59 win over Grambling State last time out. Myles Stute leads the Commodores in scoring and rebounding with 12.6 PPG and 5.9 RPG while Liam Robbins has 12.1 PPG with 4.6 RPG and Tyrin Lawrence has 10.8 PPG with 3.3 RPG to cap off the scoring in double figures for Vanderbilt up to this point in the season. Jordan Wright also has 9.9 PPG with 4.1 RPG and Exra Manjon’s dished out a team-high 3.8 APG up to this point in the season. As a team, Vanderbilt is averaging 67.8 PPG on 43.8% shooting from the field, 34.4% from three and 61.7% from the foul line this season.

Pitt is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a win while the over is 3-1-1 in their last 5 road games. Vanderbilt is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games following a win.

I get the reasoning for Vandy being favored at home, but the problem with that is that I don’t know if Vanderbilt has much else going for them here. Pitt’s coming off of a pair of rock solid wins as decent-sized underdogs, and the Panthers just have the more trustworthy offense right now. I don’t really get why Vandy is this big of a favorite. Give me the Panthers and the points.
