St. John’s vs Niagara 11/26/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Niagara Purple Eagles and the St. John’s Red Storm meet Saturday in college basketball action from Carnesecca Arena. Niagara is 3-2 so far this year and fresh off a win over D’Youville. Niagara took two losses to start out the season. Those defeats came courtesy of Maryland and Bucknell. The Eagles got their first win 73-64 over Central Arkansas, and followed that up with a 66-62 win over Stetson. 

On Wednesday versus D’Youville, the Eagles didn’t have too many problems. Niagara scored 40 points in the first half and 51 more after the break in a 91-53 win. Noah Thomasson topped the team on 15 points with five rebounds and five assists. 

Over on the St. John’s side, they’ve been on a nice run so far this year but there have been a couple of close calls along the way. The Red Storm started out with wins over Merrimack, Lafayette, Central CT State, Nebraska and Temple in their first five outings. 

St. John’s kept their run going on Tuesday versus Syracuse. The Red Storm trailed 35-29 by halftime but rallied to force overtime and a 76-69 comeback win. Both Joel Soriano (19 points; 14 rebounds) and David Jones (18 points; 13 rebounds) doubled up in the victory. 

PICK: I’m going to stay with St. John’s. The Red Storm got into a bit of trouble versus Syracuse in their last game and needed overtime to secure the comeback win. St. John’s ended up shooting 40.3 percent from the floor in that one with 47 rebounds (17 offensive) and 18 team assists. As for Niagara, they’ve got three solid wins in the books over their last trio. That said, the Purple Eagles will have their hands full in this one. I don’t think Niagara will get close to a cover.
