The UNLV Rebels and the San Diego Toreros meet in college basketball action from the Jenny Craig Pavilion on Saturday night.

The UNLV Rebels will look to build on their 126-54 win over subdivision Life Pacific last time out. Keshon Gilbert leads the Rebels in scoring and assists with 15.9 PPG along with 3.3 APG and 3 RPG while EJ Harkless has 14.1 PPG with 4.6 RPG and 2.9 APG. Luis Rodriguez has 10.9 PPG with 5.9 RPG to finish off the trio of double-digit scorers for UNLV so far this season while David Muoka has a team-high 6.1 RPG to lead the Rebels on the glass this season. As a team, UNLV is averaging 77.9 PPG on 45.6% shooting from the field, 34% from three and 66.2% from the foul line this season.

The San Diego Toreros will try to build on a 71-68 win over Longwood last time out. Jase Townsend leads the Toreros in scoring with 16.5 PPG along with 2.5 APG while Eric Williams Jr. has 14.7 PPG and a team-high 10.3 RPG to lead the Toreros on the glass, averaging a double-double per game. Marcellus Earlington has 13.3 PPG with 6.4 RPG and Jaiden Delaire has 10.8 PPG with 6.3 RPG while Seikou Sisoho Jawara has 10.7 PPG with a team-high 3.8 APG to lead the Toreros in assists and rounding out the group of double-digit scorers for UNLV so far this season. As a team, San Diego is averaging 79.9 PPG on 45.1% shooting from the field, 38.1% from three and 74.7% from the foul line this season.

UNLV is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games and 21-44-4 ATS in their last 69 road games against a team with a winning home record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 road games. San Diego is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 home games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win.

I get the case to be made on either side here, but I’m leaning towards UNLV here. UNLV is one of the best teams in the country in terms of creating turnovers and while San Diego does a good job at protecting the rock, UNLV doesn’t seem to care as they pry it away from anyone that moves. San Diego is also allowing teams to shoot 48% from the floor, and I just think that this is a bad matchup for the Toreros. Give me UNLV here.
