Michigan State vs Portland 11/27/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Portland Pilots and the Michigan State Spartans meet in college basketball action from the Chiles Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Portland Pilots will be looking to build on their 83-71 win over Villanova last time out. Tyler Robertson has a team-high 16.6 PPG along with 4.9 RPG and a team-high 5.1 APG to lead the Pilots in the assist department as well up to this point in the season. Moses Wood has 15.1 PPG along with a team-high 6.7 RPG to lead the Pilots on the glass while Kristian Sjolund has 12 PPG with 4 RPG and Mike Meadows has 11.3 PPG with 4.5 RPG to cap off the scoring in double figures for Portland so far this season. As a team, Portland is averaging 79.9 PPG on 46.9% shooting from the field, 37.9% from behind the arc and 76.9% from the foul line this season.

The Michigan State Spartans will try to build on a 74-70 win over Oregon last time out. Tyson Walker leads MSU in scoring with 15 PPG with 4.6 APG and  Joey Hauser has 13 PPG with 5.8 RPG while Malik Hall has 12 PPG with 5.3 RPG. A.J. Hoggard has 11.2 PPG with a team-high 6.8 APG to lead Sparty in assists while rounding out the group of double-digit scorers for MSU this season. Mady Sissoko has 7.8 PPG with a team-high 6 RPG to lead the Spartans on the glass up to this point in the year. As a team, Michigan State is averaging 73.2 PPG on 43.3% shooting from the field, 34.6% from behind the arc and 75.5% from the foul line this season.

Portland is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 while the over is 9-3 in their last 12 games following a win. I get the case to be made for either side here, but I’m actually leaning towards Portland here. This isn’t the same Michigan State team of years past that is a must look at any time they take the floor. I’d go so far as to say this team is just okay with a hall of fame head coach. Portland just gave UNC all they could handle before beating Villanova, and I think they could do the same to Michigan State here. Give me Portland.
