The Cornell Big Red and the Miami Hurricanes meet Wednesday in college basketball action from BankUnited Center. Cornell is 7-1 so far this year and fresh off a win over Lafayette. As for Miami, they’re currently 8-1 on the season. The Hurricanes beat Louisville in their last game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Cornell lost to Boston College in their opener but it’s been smooth sailing since. The Red have beaten SUNY Delhi, St. Francis PA, Ithaca, Canisius, Monmouth, Delaware and Lafayette since then.

Back on Sunday versus Lafayette, the Big Red had a 41-41 tie going into the second half. Cornell scored 32 points from there in a 73-68 win. Greg Dolan, Nazir Williams and Chris Manon each scored 12 points in that one.

Over on the Miami side, they won four straight games to open up the year. The Hurricanes took their lone loss to Maryland in game five, but since have beaten St. Francis BK, UCF, Rutgers and Louisville.

On Sunday versus Louisville, the Hurricanes didn’t have much trouble. Miami was up 42-23 by halftime and went on to take an 80-53 win after 38 second-half points. Leading scorer Jordan Miller put up 14 points in the win.

PICK: I’ll stay with Miami here. The Hurricanes are fresh off a nice performance versus Louisville, shooting 50 percent from the field with 39 rebounds and 18 team assists. Miami has scored 66 or more points in every game this year and should post a nice total in this one as well. As for Cornell, they’ve been playing great ball all year long themselves. The Big Red have scored 73 or more points in every one of their games. This one should be fairly high-scoring as well, but I don’t think Cornell will keep the cover pace.
