The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Iowa Hawkeyes meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Georgia Tech enters this one at 4-2 overall. The Yellow Jackets beat North Alabama in their last game. As for Iowa, they’re 5-1 on the year following a loss to TCU. Georgia Tech won their first three outings of the year, beating Clayton State, Georgia State and Northern Illinois. Following a loss to Utah, the Yellow Jackets took another loss to Marquette in game five.

On Saturday versus North Alabama, the Yellow Jackets were able to get back in to the win column. Georgia Tech posted a 43-24 edge by halftime and cruised to the 80-61 win. Deivon Smith led the team on 16 points with four rebounds and four assists.

Over on the Iowa side, they stormed out of the gate this year with five straight wins. The Hawkeyes managed to beat Bethune-Cookman, NC A&T, Seton Hall, Omaha and Clemson in their first quintet of outings.

Iowa’s run was stopped by TCU back on Saturday. The Hawkeyes trailed 36-34 by halftime and ended with a 79-66 loss after giving up 43 second-half points. Tony Perkins and Ahron Ulis led the team on 15 points apiece. Kris Murray doubled on 11 points and 10 boards.

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Iowa. The Hawkeyes were rocked by a sizzling TCU team in their last game. The Frogs shot 54.8 percent from the field with 41 rebounds and 19 assists. By comparison, Iowa shot 42.6 percent with 3-of-17 (17.6 percent) from 3-point range, 28 rebounds and 11 assists. The Hawkeyes need a good bounce-back effort in this one, and I think they’ll get it. Georgia Tech has scored 68 or fewer points in four of their last five games, so if Iowa is on point they should be fine cover-wise.
