The Iowa Hawkeyes and the Duke Blue Devils meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Madison Square Garden. Iowa is 6-1 overall this year. The Hawkeyes are fresh off a win over Georgia Tech. As for Duke, they’re currently 8-2 overall and fresh off a win over Boston College. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Iowa won their first five games this year, taking out Bethune-Cookman, NC A&T, Seton Hall, Omaha and Clemson during that stretch. The Hawkeyes lost to TCU in game six but rebounded with a win over Georgia Tech last Tuesday.

In the Georgia Tech matchup, Iowa jumped out to a 40-29 halftime lead. The Hawkeyes kept the pressure on with a 41-36 second half for an 81-65 win. Kris Murray led the team with 31 points and 20 boards. Connor McCaffery also doubled on 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Over on the Duke side, they beat Jacksonville and USC Upstate in their first pair before a loss to Kansas. The Blue Devils hit a win streak over Delaware, Bellarmine, Oregon State and Xavier, lost to Purdue then beat Ohio State.

On Saturday versus Boston College, Duke posted another win. The Blue Devils scored 35 points in the first half and another 40 from there in a 75-59 win. Mark Mitchell led the team with 15 points, and Kyle Filipowski doubled with 13 points and 10 boards.

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Duke here. The Blue Devils had a nice performance versus Boston College over the weekend despite getting out-rebounded 33-32 (14-7 offensive). Duke shot 52.8 percent from the field with 19 team assists in the 16-point victory. The Blue Devils have posted some nice points totals all year; they’ve hit 71 or more points in seven of their 10 games thus far.

As for Iowa, they’re coming off a pretty dominant win over Georgia Tech. The Hawkeyes have hit 74 or more points in all six of their wins this year, so they can certainly score. That said, Iowa has been off the court for a week and this will be their toughest matchup of the season. I don’t think they’ll keep pace.
