The Oklahoma State Cowboys and the DePaul Blue Demons meet Sunday in college basketball action from Baha Mar Convention Center. Oklahoma State is 2-2 this year and fresh off a loss to UCF. Oklahoma State got off to a good start in their opener versus TX-Arlington, taking a 77-66 win. The Cowboys would lose game two in a close matchup to Southern Illinois 61-60, but Oklahoma State bounced back with a 91-62 win over Oakland.
The Cowboys were up 28-17 at halftime in the UCF game Friday. Oklahoma State lost steam in the second and ended up with a 60-56 overtime loss. Moussa Cisse doubled up with 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Avery Anderson posted 12 points.
Over on the DePaul side, they hit a 3-0 run to start the year. The Blue Demons beat Loyola MD in their opener 72-66 and Western Illinois 86-74 in game two. Game three was another win, this time 69-53 versus Minnesota.
The Blue Demons took their first loss of the season on Friday against Santa Clara. DePaul was down 43-28 going into the second half and lost 69-61. Umoja Gibson led the way on 18 points, while Javan Johnson added 14 points.
PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Oklahoma State. Both teams need a good bounce-back effort in this one, though. The Cowboys shot a cold 29.3 percent from the field and 10 percent from 3-point range (2-of-20) in the loss to UCF. The good news is that they were solid from the line (83.3 percent) and had 42 rebounds. As for DePaul, they were outmatched in most areas in their loss to Santa Clara. This is going to be another tough matchup for the Demons if OK State is on point.
