Delaware vs Cornell 12/1/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Cornell Big Red and the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens meet Thursday in college basketball action from Bob Carpenter Center. Cornell is currently 5-1 overall. The Big Red took out Monmouth in their last game. As for Delaware, they’re 3-3 on the season. The Hens are coming off a loss to Penn. Cornell kicked off their season with a close loss to Boston College 79-77. Since then it’s been a five-game win streak for the Red however. They’ve taken out SUNY Delhi, St. Francis PA, Ithaca, Canisius and Monmouth in that time. 

In the Monmouth game last Friday, the Big Red got off to a 39-27 edge by halftime. Cornell scored 42 more points afterward for an 81-63 win. Both Keller Boothby and Chris Manon led the team on 12 points apiece. 

Over on the Delaware side, they beat Wilmington (DE) in their opener then lost to Air Force and Duke. Delaware picked it up with consecutive wins over Colgate and Hartford, then lost to Penn back on Sunday. 

In the Penn matchup, the Blue Hens trailed 42-39 going into the second half. Delaware was outscored 44-34 from there in an 86-73 defeat. Jameer Nelson led the team on 30 points, and Jyare Davis added 18 points. 

PICK: I’m going to stay with Cornell in this one. The Big Red are coming off a nice effort versus Monmouth. Cornell shot 51.7 percent from the floor with 14-of-35 (40 percent) from 3-point range, 32 rebounds and 23 team assists. This year the Big Red have done well scoring-wise; they’ve hit 77 or more points in every game so far. As for Delaware, they’ve hit 71 or more points in five of six games this season so this one should be a pretty high-scoring matchup. I like Cornell to keep the cover pace, though.
